Restrictions on Sending and Receiving Emails with Password-Protected Compressed Files (ZIP, etc.)

Please be advised that effective July 25, Z Holdings Corporation (the "Company") will discontinue sending/receiving emails with password-protected compressed files for email accounts used by our employees for business purposes.

We ask for the understanding and cooperation of our customers, business partners, and related organizations on this matter.

Many password-protected compressed files have been confirmed to be abused as an infection route for malware attacks because the files are encrypted and are difficult to check for malware when the files are received by email.

The U.S. Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) also recommends implementing measures to block these files*.

In Japan, there is also a movement to discontinue the use of password-protected compressed files, and in light of this background, the Company will discontinue sending and receiving emails with password-protected compressed files attached as of 13:00 on July 25, 2022.

If an email with a password-protected compressed file is sent to the email address of an employee of the Company (recipient) after 13:00 on July 25, 2022, the email will not be received by the recipient and will be deleted automatically.

Please note that notification of the deletion of the email will not be sent to the sender.

As an alternative for more secure file transfers, the Company will provide a file transfer system. Please contact our employees (recipients) for detailed instructions on how to transfer files.
